Q: Tell us about your organization.

At UGE we’re bringing solar power to people and businesses across the world. Our community solar projects provide families, local businesses, schools and other institutions with energy that’s cleaner and more affordable than energy from the grid. With over a decade and 500MW of global experience, we’re making a significant impact on the world’s transition to clean energy.

Q: What advice would you give to people in midlife who want to transition to a green job?

Don’t underestimate your previous professional experience. As with any industry, a renewable energy company like ours needs smart people in functions such as finance and accounting, business development, marketing, procurement, project management etc. Learn as much as you can about the green industry you’d like to get into, and then sell your previous professional experience and passion for your new chosen green field.

Q: What are the skills that you believe will be required most in the short-medium term in your industry?

Project management, project development, construction management, business development, engineering.
