Nature is the New Climate: What does this mean for your organization?: free webinar, December 14

A useful learning and networking opportunity for anyone interested in ESG: The Nature is the New Climate: What does this mean for your organization? free webinar on December 14.

As will be explored at COP15, governments, financial institutions, NGOs, and companies are underscoring the need to address biodiversity loss and land use impacts in the fight against climate change. What does this mean for your organization?

The GRI will publish a draft of its revised biodiversity standard in early December 2022. From 2023, CDP will require biodiversity reporting, which requires an entirely different set of metrics from carbon. Organizations are being encouraged to set Science Based Targets for Nature (SBTN), and with the advent of the Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), nature is to be the next big thing.

The TNFD’s official release will be in late 2023. So far, it has released three iterations of its beta framework in 2022. These include disclosure recommendations and methodologies for nature-related risk and opportunity assessments.

Over at the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), complementary to SBT, SBTi-FLAG was released in September, which defines carbon emission targets for companies involved in forestry, land, and agriculture. It continues with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHGP) and their new Land Sector and Removals Guidance by which companies can account for and report on their GHG emissions stemming from land use and land cover change (LULC), carbon removals and storage, and biogenic products.

Join us to learn more about these developments and how to start to understand your impact on the natural world. And explore how companies are navigating these new recommendations and requirements.
